This letter is to let you know that Mac Horton (A. MacNeill Horton) is planning to run for President of the National Academy of Neuropsychology (NAN) and I am hoping to be nominated for Member-at-Large. We will know in a few weeks whether we have been nominated. Mac would make a great President of NAN. He is vigorous, involved, knowledgeable about the very practical difficulties practitioners are experiencing, and dedicated to doing everything he can for the welfare of our profession and all of its members. You may wonder why, at this point in my life, I want to be elected as Member-at-Large. The answer lies in my belief that the profession is facing a critical time. Many practitioners are wondering about their future. We have a great deal to offer, but can we manage to get our services accepted? We obviously need to unite our energies and engage our best thinking to meet these problems. I hope that my experience and perspective will contribute to solving these problems. We expect that NAN will be sending out election ballots in early May. If we are nominated, I hope you will keep Mac and me in mind when you receive your ballots, and give us a chance to do our best to create a better environment for the practice of neuropsychology.
