Individuals ordering test materials for the first
time from Reitan Neuropsychology Laboratory must include their professional
qualifications.
Qualifications
The use of Halstead-Reitan Neuropsychological
Test Batteries requires professional training and experience. Formal training in
administration and interpretation of the Halstead-Reitan Batteries may be
obtained in various ways, including graduate school, internships or
post-doctoral fellowships, and special workshops and training sessions.
Carefully trained neuropsychological technicians,
working under the supervision of qualified professionals, frequently administer
and score the tests. Professional competence in use of any test must necessarily
reside with the user.
In accordance with the Standards for Educational
and Psychological Testing and the Ethical Principles of Psychologists published
by the American Psychological Association, Reitan Neuropsychology Laboratories,
Inc. restricts the sale of tests and books that contain explicit information
about neuropsychological test administration and scoring to the following: (1)
persons who have earned a doctoral degree in psychology or education, (2)
persons who are members of qualified professional organizations in which members
routinely use neuropsychological tests, and (3) persons who are qualified on the
basis of professional licensure or certification to use neuropsychological
tests.
Some individuals may qualify for purchase of
neuropsychological materials from Reitan Neuropsychology Laboratories, Inc. on
the basis of their experience and educational background or on the basis of
supervision provided by a person who meets the criteria listed above. However,
in keeping with ethical standards in the field of psychology and psychological
testing, we will distribute neuropsychological tests only to persons who are
qualified, by their training and experience, to use the tests in a responsible
and professional manner.
